Key for ignition
The ignition key is the mechanical part that turns on the vehicle. It also opens the doors and trunk. Certain keys can be used for additional purposes like the panic key and trunk release as well as a liftgate release.

The color of the key's shell release slider matches the color of the blade. Swapping a new key with an old shell will not alter the function.
Programming (adding) the new remote is simple, just follow VIDA's instructions. It doesn't need to be an "virgin key". Sit in the driver's chair with the door shut, press lock button on new remote, and the side marker light should blink to indicate that the key has been programmed.
Keyless Entry Key

A dealer can create new blades for your key fob. A locksmith that is registered with Volvo is also able to do this however they might require proof of ownership before they can do so. You can also utilize blank keys to copy the emergency blade. However, you'll need to program the keys through VIDA in order to use it inside your vehicle.
